Oh by the looks of THIS page, he edited hahahaha

It was interesting to read Thian's thoughts and ideas about the game and how to play, lynching and whatnot. It's nice to get the perspective of someone who has hosted so many of these type of games.

I thought it was 12:00AM Saturday, which would have made it 6 hours. It's already Saturday for me here.

Tiffani, I edited it to make sure everyone else got what I meant.

PostSubject: Re: Mafia - Paradise - Day 1   Mafia - Paradise - Day 1 - Page 7 EmptyFri Nov 19, 2010 5:57 pm

I think he changed what he said since that time Tiffani though, I'm sure they were referring to something else.

For the record, I've never actually played any other kind of mafia game, besides the wolf series, and one other game before that which was also done here some time ago.

I really don't know the terminology of some of the posts that started popping up, so I decided to read the acticles you guys posted, and now I do see the game a little differently, but at this same time, I do see the game relatively similarly, and I think that the fact that so many people are voting random people is weird...I'm sure it's not all random, lol, but some of it does come off as random. I still truly don't see too much oddness besides Virtuanno not seeming innocent to me the way that he seemed so blatantly innocent to me in the game I got to play with him. It's odd for him to have the different of a first impression on me this time around, so if I was going to vote yet, it would be in that direction.

I do want to hear some more solid points from Virtuanno though with his mandie vote, whom I really don't sense as being suspicious in my eyes.

Mafia - Paradise - Day 1 - Page 7 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Mafia - Paradise - Day 1   Mafia - Paradise - Day 1 - Page 7 EmptyFri Nov 19, 2010 6:35 pm

Ok note to self: Don't wait till 5 pages have been posted before replying or there is just too much to take in.

I really haven't seen anything remotely resembling a solid reason to vote for anyone, especially Kenya's. Razz Kenya, if you want to go back and compare me to previous games thats fine but I think you are missing something. I have been less active / talkative in the past 3 games. Not because of my roles but because I'm just not online as much. As for not wanting to lynch, didn't you agree with my reasons? That having this many roles makes this game much different that the last ones? So maybe that thought holds more weight than it used to?

I find most of what has been said to have either gone over my head or just not stick with me, as far as suspicions go. Right now what I would like to do is lynch the people who are making me have to read 5 pages of stuff every time I come on. Razz

For the most part everyone is active, everyone has at least contributed something if only something small, and so no easy votes this round. I'm not opposed to lynching but I will need a reason I can support. I'm not voting anyone just to make it happen.

Mafia - Paradise - Day 1 - Page 7 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Mafia - Paradise - Day 1   Mafia - Paradise - Day 1 - Page 7 EmptyFri Nov 19, 2010 7:16 pm

Alright, most of my work’s done for the weekend, so I'll emerge as really active now that we're approaching that final 24 hour window where we need to come to a consensus if we're going to lynch. I just re-read through the thread and am looking at everyone’s posts. Here are my thoughts:

I think that Thian’s approach as far as throwing votes for anyone to get them to speak up and vote is an effective strategy. Last game when I was an evil role and saw that the other evil roles were grouped together and accused, I started “going crazy” trying to figure out a way to not let the first three lynches eliminate the evil roles, which led to my lynch. So if we keep applying pressure to certain people, it gives us the best chance of hitting something significant and forcing someone to slip, even if it’s by luck.

I get the reasons for most of the voting so far. Thian’s being super active and accusatory and is thus making some people not used to playing this game this way uncomfortable. Dragonldy and DJ haven’t been the most active so far, and I’d vote to lynch them if this becomes a habit, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for now. The people who have struck me as being a little “odd” the most have been:

-Deetster: Something about Deetster’s behavior and what I’d expect it to be in this game don’t seem to be matching. Maybe I’m overthinking this, but I see him as being slightly less active than usual and being strange in terms of using colors (when does he use colors?). His posts seem more flaky and silly rather than solid, and my gut doesn't know what to think about that.
-Dragontear: He doesn’t seem nearly as active as in past games, and I want to hear more about his thoughts on the games. All he’s done is jump on the Thian vote, and something about that does strike me as odd.
-PhocQ: I get his reason for considering a no lynch and was going to defend him against Kenya’s vote, but his last post and not really bringing up any particular names makes me think he’s being quiet so that he doesn’t isolate anyone by bringing up their names. Meaning he possibly has a significant role that he wants to keep in this game. Maybe evil.
-Virtuanno: I don’t understand why he wants to lynch Mandie because Mandie has seemed more active than a lot of people and fairly solid in her opinions.

I will remain open to compromise in assuring a lynch, but I’d be most comfortable voting for one of the people I listed or someone who shows continued lack of activity over the other targets at this point. I don't necessarily think any of those people are Mafia and my opinions will change, but that's what I've gathered out of this first day so far. We'll have more to build on next round, hopefully.

PostSubject: Re: Mafia - Paradise - Day 1   Mafia - Paradise - Day 1 - Page 7 EmptyFri Nov 19, 2010 7:58 pm

Actually, scratch what I just said about Virtuanno. His posts haven't all been completely clear to me, but I do think I get where he was coming from with the "lying for the greater good" answer in the survey. I don't think an evil role would go as far as talking about how good players should lie. Saying that they'd "lynch a liar" seems like an easier way for the evil roles to blend in. Plus his philosophy for lynching Mandie --- how she has protected the lurkers but hasn't offered her own opinion about who is suspicious --- makes sense for a reason to lynch someone. I'd like to hear more opinions from her, but I respect Mandie for making the effort to at least post, and nothing that she has said so far seems evil. I'm still more reluctant to lynch her over some other people, who I just named.

But yeah, that deadline is going to be here before we know it, so it's definitely time to start thinking about the best way to compromise and figure out a majority target if we're going to do a lynch.

I can understand the pros to a no lynch.. BUT my issue with it.. is as it was already stated, its the only way we can even have a chance at getting a mafia/evil role. We have no chance with them just picking us off. Because what do we learn by the mafia killing one of us off? We don't have really any vote patterns or anything to go off of if we don't see where this first day leads us.

Yeah, I agree with that. I feel he's more suspicious now. Before his last post, I was thinking: Well, he usually shifts his strategy around and plays differently with varying philosophies. But after that last post and nothing concrete again, he's done several things that strike my "Odd-O-Meter."

Oh great, now I'm getting votes for....I'm not really sure for what.

I vote for Virtuanno

I would rather take the chance of trying to take out a potential mafia role than sit on my thumb and do nothing.

Although it would an interesting concept to force people to vote the first round instead of having the option for a no-kill first round. But that's for another game and another time. Back to the lynching!

PostSubject: Re: Mafia - Paradise - Day 1   Mafia - Paradise - Day 1 - Page 7 EmptySat Nov 20, 2010 11:53 am

I'm actually really excited to see what the night phase turns up since there are so many active night time roles. We should gain some good intel. The only problem will be knowing how to trust that the people with "good" roles are giving us the "good" info.

I think Virtuanno harping on the "not lynching a lurker" thing is just something he's stuck on, but I don't think that in itself is solid enough evidence against Mandie (vast).

I'm keeping my vote for Thian since I feel that is best at the moment.

dogdude, why is it best? did you not read anything that has transpired about Virtuanno misrepping mandie?

It has nothing to do with him harping on lurking.

He had stated, and tired to build a case against mandie by misrepresenting what mandie had said.

After he realized people saw what he wrote... he went back and edited it. There is no need to edit your posts unless you are trying to hide something.

Well now you have to look at something here.

What was dogdudes original reason for voting for me?

Causing too much commotion and putting a vote first?

I have already explained why I was causing commotion. Too much staring and asking, well thats nice now what. You don't get anywhere by asking that question for 3 pages.

and putting a first vote? he's grasping at reasons to keep his vote on me when there is a real reason to vote someone else.

Mafia - Paradise - Day 1 - Page 7 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Mafia - Paradise - Day 1   Mafia - Paradise - Day 1 - Page 7 EmptySat Nov 20, 2010 12:41 pm

I had intended to post last night, but I ended up helping a buddy with some emergency computer issues, and I just didn't have the focus I needed to make a good post. It seems to me that Virtuanno is getting a lot of flak for his language, and that in itself I could understand, I make mistakes, too. We are only human.

When you post references and attempt to abandon them as 'somebody else's' when called out on it, I take note.

When you post an accusation that is completely wrong, but understandably human error, I will forgive it.

But when you are called out on it yet again, and go back to edit your post without saying so, and wait to be called out again, and I can't help but think that something is up. This is not the kind of transparency I would expect from a villager. I understood that a little bit of subtlety may be a good thing for the town in the right situation. But this just comes off as throwing out everything and anything and just seeing what sticks.

Also, I was suspicious of vastfanatic as well when she spoke out in defense the voiceless. She is a seasoned ORG-er. I know that she is a very caring person and would defend anyone she felt needed defending... in a real life situation. Within the context of an ORG, I started to get a little suspicious. I started wonder if she is maybe aware of our preconceptions of her and possibly taking advantage of them? For the record, this is on a completely different string of theory than Virtuanno's.

Of the two though, my theories are vastfanatic are just speculation. There are provable instances for my claims on Virtuanno. For how much he seems to know about the game, he seems to be making a lot of talk that constantly changes direction when called to attention. To me, this does not seem like there are any kinds of convictions involved, just seeing what you can get us to believe. So with that in mind:

I vote to lynch Virtuanno
