ORG Planet's Weekly Music Chart 2012

Hey everyone,

Hope you all will join this and support this. Figured it is another thing we can do to get some activity going here.

The way it'll work is everyone will need to post a list of 10 songs and rank them 1-10. The #1 song will get 10 points while the #10 song would get 1 point. Every Sunday I will add up the points and create a music chart.

As for what songs you may vote for:

1 ~ Any song that is currently on any Billboard chart is eligible
2 ~ As long as an artist does not have a song on any Billboard chart then you may choose a song from their most recent album to be their first ORG Planet single.
3 ~ Performances from shows like American Idol, The Voice, Smash, Glee, etc are eligible as well, and due to the nature of those shows the rule of only one song isn't going to be enforced here.
4 ~ live performances can also be included if the performance is from the past month. Though only one live performance may be voted by each person. The live performance must be available on YouTube so everyone can see it.
5 ~ if you like a track from an album that has a current single you don't like then you may vote for it, however that would mean the current single would not be eligible to be voted on.

Once a song charts it will be allowed to be voted on for 10 weeks. Once 10 weeks are over then the songs will be retired.

Ties will be broken by release dates and/or previous rankings.

At the end of the year each song that charted during the year will be ranked together by the amount of points they received over the entire year and I'll post that.

Any questions then just ask. I may have left some things out or some things might not make sense, let me know so I can clarify anything so that this can be a success.

So basically, in our own list, we can only have one song from each artist, no artist can have 2+ songs in our own Top 10?

The numbers in parentheses are the song's # on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart as of 3/2/12.

so I went away for the weekend and forgot to post my list. I'm gonna extend the deadline for the first week to tomorrow so if you wanna vote then please do so by tomorrow afternoon. I'll be posting the first chart sometime after 5pm tomorrow night

Hey I don't know if this is too late but I have some songs.

I went through the Billboard charts and actually only found 6 songs that I really like.. most the songs I like/listen to aren't listed on any charts I could find online. I know you said they don't have to be on a chart but for now I'm just gonna post the ones from charts cuz it's what I have time for and then may add more later ^_^

As there were only 25 songs voted this week I'm gonna post all 25. I am also going to be posting videos of all 25 songs so if you have not heard a song before you can check it out. Only one song got votes by 2 people so the rest is ranked by points then chart position on the Billboard 100 (if it isn't on the Billboard 100 then based on its position on another chart I ordered each remaining song by giving one 102, 104, 106, etc)

It is time to vote for next Sundays chart. All 25 songs that charted this week are eligible, keep in mind though that they are each moving onto their 2nd week on our chart, meaning only 9 weeks left to vote for those songs. If there is anything new then you may vote for that but try to avoid voting for new singles by the artist above until those songs either drop of the countdown or retire.

Remember check the Billboard charts for songs you'd like to vote for.

Plus, if someone released an album recently but didn't release any songs on it to radio than you may choose one song to vote for and introduce to us all.

WOW! I just wanna say thanks Pete for doing this.

See.. Cape Cod has shitty radio so I don't listen to it.. when I was in college I heard tons of new music on the Boston radio stations but now that I'm home I'm not updated on new music much.. but I've been listening to these songs and I'm not even done yet playing them all and already found new songs I like! I like the Gavin DeGraw one, the Adele one and the Jessie J one so far and I'm only up to song ten!! I'm gonna keep listening but seriously this is a good new way to find out music so I hope more people do this.. Mandie, Stacie, Cam, Jordan, etc.. everyone should do this!

I think this is a perfect way to discover new music.. my music tastes have changed a lot over the years.. pop-punk/pop-rock is my favorite but most of those songs don't get on the radio.. so I will have to post some here (Pete, what is the most recent an album can be to post a song off of it if it's not currently on the radio?). I also like pop, rock, alternative, punk, some hip hop, etc. I like certain country artists too like some of Carrie Underwood's songs.

I'd say as long as it was released within the past year, so from March 2011 to now. I'll add that if an artist has released singles from an album but stopped releasing singles than you can choose a song from the album to be on here. Though a previous single would not be eligible.

just to let you know, if you didn't already, Carrie just released a new song called Good Girl that you should check out. It came out like two weeks ago or so.

You download the software.. it sees what you listen to on your itunes or whatever media player you use, and then it recommends you new music based on your playlist You can add friends there too and see concert events, etc.

you did everything right Niki except one thing which is my fault and not yours because you actually did it last week too. Only one song per artist/act is allowed at a time and you voted two songs from LMFAO. I added both last time and didn't actually notice that they were both the same artist so I apologize for that but if you could choose one song to keep and remove the other, you can re-add the other after 10 weeks for the first one.
