Michael L's Diary - Episode IV ~ Choosing Sides

So I just realized I forgot to start a new thread for episode IV. This may be because I've been too lazy for the extensive written confessionals that I normally do, so starting off a new episode didn't seem natural. Or it may be because Patrick leaving was such a non event that I barely count it as an actual tribal council. Whatever the reason, episode III came and went. We mixed, we won immunity, and Patrick left a unanimous vote, managing to incur 7 votes against him with only 6 people on the tribe. Yay for double self votes!

But now to the current situation. Rebecca and I have been bouncing back and fourth so much it's ridiculous. We can't make up our minds, and it just seems like every route we consider taking we'll be doomed regardless. There must be a way for us to get to the final 2, we've just got to keep our eyes out for it. I'm not sure who it'll be with, or how many people we'll have to bettray to get there, but we'll find it, we have to.

Until just last night, we were considering bringing Jordan in as a third member to our alliance, a true partner that we could rely on. But, his actions, as well as information that's been relayed back to Rebecca through Michael M., have made it apparent that Jordan is closer with Michael M. than he's admitting to. I feel like they're going to pull one over on us. Use us to get maybe Donna and Pete out, flip at 9 to get rid me then Rebecca, then go to the final four with Michael M./Jordan/Tiffani/Mitch.

I really don't want Michael M. and Jordan to win. If it can't be me or Rebecca, I would like to see Donna or Pete win this game. I honestly feel if Michael M./Jordan were to make it to the end, it would be all my fault for having this pregame alliance that drastically changed how I played from the mixup on. If I hadn't invited Rebecca, I would've simply stuck with Joe/Donna in the mixup and reunited with Pete/Bill/Jessica at the merge. Now becuase I'm being significantly more shadey, Michael M. has the chance to use the situation to his advantage and it really frustrates me.

There's still a lot that could happen before this round is over. We'll just have to wait and see.

Some interesting developments with Joe, that's for sure. He seemed pretty confident that he could swing Rebecca to our side, guess h feels they have some sort of bond. I don't know, he never seems to be worried, lol, yet he doesn't strike me as someone who really has all that many connections. I guess it never hurts to be confident, just seems a little odd to me. But the important thing is that he understands what we had to do, and didn't even mind me telling Mitch and Jordan I would be voting for him, which isn't the case. Nice Joe, nice.

Donna seemed quite worried when I shared that Mitch had been targetting her, and I guess she had reason to be, considering Rebecca and I were almost on board with that plan. When it comes down to it though, I didn't want to go that route, I didn't want to vote Donna out of this game. And I think in general, I'm trying to get away from some of the hair brained schemes Rebecca and I have thought up to propel ourselves forward, and get back to what I actually want to do and who I want to see advance. Hopefully I reassured her, and hopefully we can continue working together.

Alright, so we all decided to get rid of Jordan this round, with Rebecca and I telling Jordan and Mitch we'd be voting for Joe. I think we got accomplished what I wanted out of the chat, other than I'm disappointed Rebecca didn't walk away with a more concrete deal from Donna. A promise that we'd protect her to the merge, when the merge could very well be next round, isn't saying much of anything. Hopefully we can find a way for Rebecca to immerse herself among the original Gumshoes. We entertained the possiblity of alligning with Mitch and Jordan because we didn't think we could fit her in, so now that we might be able to, we have to make sure we do it right.

Well, I couldn't finish what she started on the challenge, but other than that, I think the night was pretty successful for Rebecca and me. We managed to get the vote geared towards Michael M.'s greatest ally and the person in the greatest position to backstab us in the near future. We also managed to ensure that I would be the leader for the next round, not quite sure that entails. I think now the plan is just to stick with the other five Gumshoe up to final 7 then see if we can find any cracks at that point to help us advance as a pair. It does seem a little unlikely that we won't be split up at some point, but hopefully we can both make it reasonably far and one of us can be there at the end.

Mitch's gut was definitely right on the money. Could I have lied to him better? Absolutely, but in all honesty that wouldn't have served me well. I feel like Rebecca and I are finally starting to get things right. Even though our attempts to form an alliance with Jordan and Mitch failed and our alliance is partially exposed, we discovered the Michael M./Jordan bond, Rebecca incurred favor from Donna and Joe, and we now seem to be headed in the right direction. There's still a LOT of work to do, I don't even know how we're going to get her past the Gumshoe alliance... but I'm beginning to think it's possible. Just maybe, maybe, we can be the final 2.

Excellent chat with Pete, after a somewhat extended period of silence. I guess it makes sense now with having his wisdom teeth out he couldn't be on much, hope he's recovering okay. We strenghtened our bond and discussed some plans for the future. We did have a difference in opinion over how we wanted the first few merge votes to go. He wanted to save Michael M. as last of the sleuths, while I wanted to save Rebecca. Him wanting Rebecca out 8th is going to make it fairly difficult for Rebecca and I to become the final 2, lol. Hopefully I'll have some time to change his mind.

So this was an interesting round. Rebecca and I were considering an alliance with Jordan at the start of a round, even saw him in our final three. Then, evidence surfaced that showed he was strongly tied to Michael M., and that the information we discussed in chats was being directed back towards him. Meanwhile, Jordan wanted to throw the challenge, while I fought against it. Though he didn't go so far as to post a list of incorrect answer for our official post, he didn't contribue a single guess, even though he probably had access to all the right answers via Michael M.

Ultimately, we decided to side with Donna and Joe to take Jordan out and just leave Mitch out of the loop. Even though I was against throwing the challenge, I think in the end this was the best thing that could've happened for Rebecca and me. Before attending tribal council, Joe and Donna had virtually no attachments to Rebecca. Now, they owe her their lives for voting with us at this last tribal council. Hopefully this will improve her reputation among all Gumshoes, though I'm guessing Pete/Bill/Jessica will still favor Michael M. over her.

It sucks to have my Redmond buddy out, but at the same time, I think him leaving his far better in the long run than if Sleuth had lost and Tiffani had gone home. Also I think Rebecca and I have done enough premptive damage control that his exit should be relatively painless. The only major negative consequences would come from Jordan, after being voted out, expressing his bitter sentiments via AIM and doing everything in his power to ensure Rebecca and me would go home.
