Either I'm getting old...

or all of the parents I've been dealing with today are extremely polite. I'm not used to parents that actually show equal respect for student workers. Normally they're brushing you off, arguing with you about something their kid can't do, or asking to speak to someone higher up. Today I've heard nothing but "Thank you so much" and things of that nature I was even called sir.

Maybe I'm looking especially old today. I rarely get carded for anything but the doors at bars, and even then sometimes people will just kinda glance over it. I wonder what would happen if I shaved my terrorist beard.

You instantly lose 5+ years of appearance if you shave a beard. Fact. It was hilarious coming off my NOLS course and watching everyone shave. It was like they were completely different people.

Hahaha, I did it once, and people didn't recognize me. I thought I looked older...like middle-aged. I'll make a thread and post a pic if I ever do it again. I'm sure there's evidence on Facebook somewhere too.

OH. And Doug, when I was a counselor at camp this past summer one of the girls called me Ma'am. And I flipped a shit and was asking everyone if I looked old enough to be called Ma'am

I hate being ma'am'ed!! It makes me feel so old! I hope I have at least a few years left as a miss!

When I worked in retail I refused to use ma'am/sir because I was afraid I would get it wrong once and totally embarass myself. Some customers you had to take a real good look at to figure out which one to use!
