| It's that time of year that I dust off my little Christmas playlist and give it a listen to get in a happy holiday type of mood. I don't mean like Jingle Bells and stuff like that, I like listening to Christmas songs that are like done by modern bands and stuff (so maybe Jingle Bells, but not sung by Burl Ives I guess). A lot of them are funny, some are covers and some are originals. So I pose the question, what's your favorite "non traditional" Christmas song? Although I guess some of these have just kind of become traditional...but let me give my little list.
- "Little Saint Nick" The Beach Boys
- "The Little Drum Machine Boy" Beck
- "Walkin' 'Round In Women's Underwear" Bob Rivers
- "The 12 Pains Of Christmas" Bob Rivers
- "Merry Christmas Baby" Bruce Springsteen
- "The Island Of Misfit Toys" from Rudolf...obvi
- "Baby, It's Cold Outside" Doris Day & Bing Crosby
- "Santa Baby" Eartha Kitt (YES, I love Eartha Kitt...I saw her perform on New Years in 2007, it was fab)
- "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve" Ella Fitzgerald (This is one of my favorite songs, I have her whole Christmas Album)
- "Blue Christmas" Elvis Presley
- "Winter Wonderland" Eurythmics
- "Please Be Patient" Feist (from A Colbert Christmas, it's hysterical)
- "I Want An Alien For Christmas" Fountains Of Wayne
- "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" Frank Sinatra & Cyndi Lauper (I just imagine what he must think of Cyndi Lauper while doing this duet and I crack up, that angry old man must have hated every second of it, MERRY CHRISTMAS!)
- "Present Face" Garfunkel & Oates (for all the times I go fishing!)
- "Last Christmas" The Glee Cast (They just released this on iTunes, it's actually probably my favorite song they've done).
- "Wonderland" Heidi Klum (This song was #1 in Germany a few years ago...that's so so sad)
- "A Christmas Duel" The Hives & Cyndi Lauper
- "Merry Christmas To The Family" Jill Sobule
- "Jesus Was A Dreidel Spinner" Jill Sobule
- "Happy X-Mas (war is over)" John Lennon & Yoko Ono
- "Don't Shoot Me Santa" The Killers
- "Christmas Island" Kristin Chenoweth (she has a whole Christmas album and it's pretty good but boring song choices)
- "Santa Baby" Kylie Minogue (I like pretty much every version of this song)
- "Christmas Tree" Lady GaGa & Space Cowboy
- "Chirstmas (Baby Please Come Home)" Leighton Meester (I just find this amusing)
- "(WTFAMP) X-Mas Song" Letters To Cleo (my personal favorite Christmas song)
- "Dick In A Box" The Lonely Island & Justin Timberlake (this is kind of a Christmas song now, for realz, they play it on the radio)
- "Dominick The Donkey" Lou Monte
- "Santa Baby" Madonna (see)
- "All I Want For Christmas Is You" Mariah Carey (probably the best song on here)
- "Fuckin' Up My Christmas" mc chris
- "Little Drummer Boy" The Monarch & Dr. Girlfriend (Yeah...it gets weird)
- "Merry X-Mas-Kwanza-Kkah" Morningwood
- "All I Want For Christmas Is You" My Chemical Romance
- "Oi To The World" No Doubt
- "Wonderful Christmastime" Paul McCartney
- "Come On Santa" The Raveonettes
- "X-Mas Cake" Rilo Kiley (So so so so sad)
- "Christmas Wrapping" Save Ferris
- "Sleigh Ride" Spice Girls (YAY!)
- "Another Christmas Song" Stephen Colbert
- "Can I Interest You In Hannukah?" Stephen Colbert & Jon Stewart (I'll keep Jesus, you keep your potato pancakes...)
- "Sleigh Ride" TLC
- "Christmas Eve In Sarajevo" Trans-Siberian Orchestra
- "The Twelve Days Of Christmas" The Twin Peaks Cast
- "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" U2
- "Christmas Wrapping" The Waitresses (Obvi)
- "Mr. Snow Miser & Mr. Heat Miser" A Year Without A Santa Claus
- "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" from the movie
- "A Chainsaw For Christmas" Zombina And The Skeletones
- "Wonderful Christmastime" 24 & 21 (Better than the Paul McCartney version I think)
