I never really followed wrestling, but when I was in college, he was one of our iconic "get psyched up" characters. We get revved up for parties, football games, etc, pretending to be him.

I heard that he suffered a heart attack, which is what caused the accident. Fortunately, he had enough in him to drive in a way that saved the life of the passenger.
