| I have worked out every day after waking up for a week now!!! I don't need to lose weight, I actually want to gain weight by eating a calorie and protein rich diet and get some muscle mass, by working out regularly and taking charge of my good health. I started slow, doing 20 sit ups, 10 push ups, and 20 lunges, and upped them all by 50% today, for a 30-15-30 workout. I hope to increase them again next week, and again after that, to get up to 50-30-50. Help keep me on this! | |

| I've tried to get myself on a work-out plan for a while now and never stick to it. I need to lose a few pounds and get into shape (especially with my heart) but I'm not great on eating healthy and I have weights but don't have room to use them, nor do I have room for push-ups or pull-ups. Was gonna try and go to the gym a few times a week (did it twice in the past, was more successful with it the second time but couldn't afford to keep going).

| I know how it goes, Pete. The toughest thing to do is get going and find something that is comfortable for you. I still kind of tell myself "maybe a break today" but I don't wanna break the cycle now, eventually I will have established a routine, and it will be harder to stop.
Don't give up on trying on yourself, but start when you are good and ready and don't force it. | |

| well the last time I really was able to work out was before my heart started bothering me, ever since my heart though I find it is hard to do anything cause within 10 minutes of starting my heart will start racing so its frustrating cause I'm supposed to stop (it races extremely fast) so I gotta figure out a way to work out for a decent amount of time so to not aggravate my heart.
I haven't given up at all, just haven't figured out the right way to go about it yet. | |

| Sorry to hear about your heart buddy, I can see how that would make working out a scary prospect. Perhaps you could look into Tai Chi? It's pretty low impact, I have tried it a few times, and I felt great afterwards, it seemed to me, the bigger the group, the better I felt, as it is an exercise that focuses you on how your body and mind feels, and when so many people together are in tune with themselves, I think, it creates a great overall sense of well being. | |

| I want to work out - I used to go to the gym but then my car became unreliable and then my membership expired I didnt have enough money to renew it. I have 0 motivation to get up on my own and exercise. I need to lose weight. I miss going to the gym... I miss working out and I miss swimming. I wake up on average at 2pm every day. Im lazy, I only eat once a day though, I might have a snack before bed. My metabolism is very low. I can look at a peice of cake and gain 5 pounds. lololol | |

| derB, thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into that. I was thinking of joining the local YMCA and using their gym and pool and just pushing myself as much as I can and then just completely relaxing afterwards, I'll have to watch it of course but I gotta try it, I think if I get myself into better shape, the situation with my heart might not be as bad as it is and that would be good. It's sad cause when I was younger my teachers would always buy me desserts and stuff cause they felt I wasn't eating enough, I was way too thin, how I wish that was still the case lol I spend too much time on the computer nowadays. | |

| WOO! I did it! A month of working out! I already got a little tone to my abs, and my arms aren't frightened by toothpicks anymore! 50 of each sit ups, pull ups, and lunges! | Your back will hurt from poor posture and not stretching it properly, along with weak stomach muscles. Stretching in bed when you wake up will help with that. When you wake up, your spine has been free of the pressures of gravity all night, so it spreads out and stretches out all the tendons and ligaments attached to it. Stretching those will loosen them up, making movement less of a chore, which in turn will help to improve posture and back strength.
For your stomach, crunches and sit ups are the best intensive work out, even if you only do 5 a couple times a day, shortly after you wake up and in the middle of the day. With time, you can be adding a couple to the routine as you get more comfortable with it. Remember, it is supposed to burn- that's your muscles begging your body for more nutrients and oxygen; what they need to grow. But be careful, too much can build up lactic acid, and actually hurt you. The burn should feel like you are stretching really well, not painful. | |
