Childhood nicknames and terms of endearment Empty
PostSubject: Childhood nicknames and terms of endearment   Childhood nicknames and terms of endearment EmptyWed Aug 11, 2010 9:56 am

I'm just curious what everyone was called as a kid. Children in England are called weird names... rather than things like sweetie and honey, the three I've heard most are pickle, sausage, and chicken pie. Yet the people here think it's weird that I think it's weird, lol

So those odd terms of endearment made me start thinking about what I was called as a kid. And I realized the most affectionate term my dad used for me was Messica (Messy + Jessica).... and he called my sister Rat-Bag, or Bag 'o Rats. No idea why. And he still calls my mom Ding-Dong. He's called her that ever since he found out her real name was Cherrie-Belle, rather than just Cherrie, like she told him. Since she hates the name Belle (no idea why), my dad turned it into 'bell' which turned into 'doorbell' which turned into 'Ding Dong'.

I suppose if a man can call his wife Ding Dong in an affectionate way, English people can refer to their children as chicken pies?

My grandmother always called me W.A. It stands for Walking Accident.

My grandfather calls me Sloborino

My aunt would call me "The Little Demon" or "Demonchylde" and then Monkee (not because of the gross animals, because of the hilarious band)

My mom would just call me by my name.

My dad wouldn't call me.

Well my real name is Michael, and I have been and am still called "Mikey".

My dad also calls me "Deet", "Deets", or "The Deetman", lol. No clue to an explanation.

I don't really have any childhood nicknames, aside from my mom calling me honey, sweetie, etc.

"Faggit" was my favorite from middle school through freshman year of college. Rolling Eyes

One of my friends in high school called me Pinky Braces. I did some online thing where it gave me the name Pinky Gigglebuns. I was IM'ing with her once and said "I love the Braces", which was a typo when I tried to type Braves (her fav baseball team). So, Pinky Braces was born.

My bro-in-law calls me Cameroon, or Rooner.

From my NOLS trip, when I had a scraggly beard, some people called me Beardo. Or Pirate McBeardy (an intentional misspelling of my last name).

I'm sure I'll think of some others.

Lol at typo nicknames.

I was once typing to some girl who was at a sleepover with other girls online, and she asked what I'm doing, and I said something that included the word "stuff". Something like "watching TV and stuff", but I said, "wathcing TV and stiff".

So for about...2 years or so among a group of girls in my school I was "stiffy".
