BB UK 11 Empty
PostSubject: BB UK 11   BB UK 11 EmptyThu Jul 01, 2010 2:09 pm

In anticipation for Big Brother, I just booted up the first episode of BB UK 11, and holy crap, I hope this doesn't spoil the American version. I guess for this season (it's apparently their very last), they decided to release the short-list of contestants to the public, and didn't tell anyone who made it until they were live on television. So they didn't find out they were on in until they actually were right there ready to walk through the doors.

Also, their house is out of this world. It's so ridiculous that just looking at it for two, three months could totally drive you insane.

As far as I'm in, they've revealed two houseguests. One of them is an ex-military dude with two prosthetic legs, tattoos all over the place, and a black glass eye. Amazing.

BBUK is crazy, and has a terrifying theme song. I hate it. And it's no where NEAR as entertaining as BBUS. Not enough drama, and they don't even get to vote out houseguests themselves. They don't have HOH or Veto competitions, and they're not allowed to discuss gameplay with any other houseguests. If they do, Big Brother will tell everyone who said what, and then takes things away from the house as punishment.

See, I've always been intrigued by the fact that they don't vote each other out. Makes it less like Survivor, and more like... well, the way Big Brother is everywhere else, lol. I've always wanted to watch a "real" season of Big Brother, so I'm totally excited to watch this. Surprising that there's less drama though, considering BBUK 11 seemed to pick a far more ridiculous cast than I've ever seen on an American Survivor or BB show.

ahahaha, no idea. I just know that a group of people were talking about who they thought was going to be voted out, and Big Brother came on the loud speaker thing and was all "So and so just said blah blah blah and so and so replied that blah blah blah, etc etc" and totally ratted them out on EVERYTHING they said, and then went "Due to breaking the rules, the whole house only has basic food now."

And they were left with like, bread and water.

I've watched the latest few episodes of this season, and I think it's crap. I don't like the way the game is played (in comparison to BBUS), and the production quality is poor. It was filming a competition, but it was so random and unstructured and wasn't filmed well at ALL. It was as if someone had a digital camera, flipped it on "video" and casually walked around, filming it. The whole show just feels extremely low budget (minus the house they live in, lol) and lame.

No, they're not allowed to talk game at all, because they're not supposed to really be playing a game. The first season of BBUS was the same, if I recall. The only games that they're supposed to be playing are the ones they play for reward. Essentially, since UK is voting on who leaves the house, "Big Brother" calls them out on talking game so that no small group of people gets together to like, lobby against the others, etc.

It's really fucked up, but that's what's appealing to me, lol.

Big Brother was never meant to be a competitive reality show in the sense that we're so used to. They're not supposed to align or scheme or lobby against anyone. They're literally supposed to be 14 people locked in a house attempting to entertain themselves and us in the process, nothing more.

But watching people scheme and plot and fight is entertaining. I get so bored watching BBUK. I need to be doing something else (AKA my laptop) while watching it, or else I'd be too bored to watch. All the show is, is watching people sit around, engaging in small talk. I don't understand how the show has stayed on the air, especially since I've yet to meet a Brit who doesn't share my opinion on it.

I just found these episodes online after a lot of searching, and halfway through Episode 3 (Day 2) I'm intrigued. We'll see if it holds any water, but the way it's going...I'm not sure. We'll see.

I can't do BBUK. BBUS is having your cake and eating it too.

BBUK is having your cake and not eating it. Technically, people say that's the right way to be...ya know they say its bad to "have your cake and eat it". Well...BBUK is that...and why the hell do I want to just look at my cake and not eat the hell out of it.
