I went to a plastinized bodies exhibit and saw a hip replacement. Weeeird.

I don't really get it...I was never that interested but people seem to love it. What is so interesting exactly?

I dunno, it's just really cool to see all the intricacies of the human body. And actually, there's a lot I learned about the body that 13 years of health and science never seemed to teach me. I think the whole line between gross and beautiful is kind of fun to play with too *shrug*

I liked it because you actually get to see what your body is made up of! It's like if we ripped off our epidermis and continued living. It's not for everyone, I agree, but it was really interesting. They take it beyond just people, too, and they pose them into art (subjective). The exhibition I saw in Boston, they had animals, posed humans, etc. For instance, one body they took, and dismantled the entire thing so that it look like it imploded and each individual part had separated from everything else. It was really cool to see how and what we are made up of. They did have a pregnant woman whose fetus was still in the womb. That to me was fascinating, because it goes beyond a sonogram or any other technology and you actually get to see what the body looks like from the inside. Not to mention that was a pretty controversial piece. But everybody (errr...every body) was donated to science.
