Michael L's Diary - Ep V ~ Laying Out the Dominos

I titled last episode "Choosing a Side," and by the end of it, I chose the opposite side of what I'd planned to when I selected the title. But I'm happy with my decision. I always liked Joe and Donna, my whole tribe in general, and wanted to stick with them. The only reason I was considering other options was so that I'd be able to make it to the end with Rebecca as I'd planned, because I didn't think the Gumshoes would let her make it very far. Now, we've won her some Gumshoe favor, so maybe I can stay loyal to her without being labeled the biggest backstabber of OPS1 before we even hit the merge.

Anyway, CRAZY news. My tribe selected me to be their leader. Should I be worried? They say taking a leadership position in Survivor is a death wish. Oh well, I've done it in plenty of ORGs and won. Maybe it's just how you go about it, hopefully being less abrasive than some of the A-type personalities that do it on the show. Anyway, Michael M. arrived in the chat with DJ and found out... WE WERE PICKING NEW TRIBES!

Alright, I know this is posted on the board already so having it in my confessional is a bit redundant, but I just have to say... this swap went AMAZINGLY! Michael M. came into the meeting having no idea what went wrong at tribal council to have led to Jordan's departure. Based on the intel he received from Jordan about Mitch offering me a final 2, he believed Mitch was the one who turned on Jordan. When I chose Mitch first, in an effort to separate the three original Sleuths I fear voting together, he assumed I was trying to keep Mitch on my tribe as an ally, when I actually I see him more like an easy vote out. So guess who he chose to be on his tribe? REBECCA! Lol, this is just perfect. After the events of this swap, Michael M. could very well be the next one to go.

So I really didn't have much to say to Mitch to deffend my vote, but hopefully he ate up the story I gave him. He wanted me to pick him to be on my tribe and I did, but not for the reason he hoped for. If we lose, Mitch will be going home. Not necessarily my first choice, but the one that would work best with this tribe and he's got to go sooner or later anyway. Hopefully we win though, because there's definitely some members of the current Sleuth tribe I'd rather have leave.

Donna wanted to be on my tribe, and I made it happen. We work well together, and hopefully we'll be able to stick together for a long while. We've got a good tribe set up, and we both want to win challenges and avoid tribal councils. But even if we lose, I think we both know we're safe. We just got to wait it out till the merge and take it day by day.

Joe definitely has some reason to be upset right now. I didn't pick him to be on my tribe even though I had two chances to do so, and now he's stuck with a bunch of people he doesn't trust. If original sleuth stuck together, Michael M./Tiffani/Rebecca could all vote him out. If sleuth 2.0 stuck together, Michael M./Tiffani/Jessica could all vote him out. However, it's also a very likely possibility that Joe/Jessica/Rebecca could form an alliance, Joe and Jessica having the old gumshoe bond and Rebecca not being fond of her original tribe. I don't think Joe should give up yet, and I hope he doesn't resent me for the situation he's in. I didn't mean to screw him over.

Lmao, I love how frustrated Michael M. must be at Jordan's departure and how he's just being subtle about it. I think he knows he's quickly running out of options for hopes of staying in this game long term. I also enjoyed how he tried to get some critical information out of me. Notice how I just didn't respond? I'm being rude, I know. He actually is a pretty nice guy, but on a strategic level, he scares me. It'd probably be next if Sleuth lost, Rebecca joined up with Joe and Jessica, and Michael M. was the next to leave.

It seems likely that the next tribal configuration. The first two tribes had been together two rounds a piece. Will this phase follow suit? Or perhaps this will only last for one round? Maybe it'll last for three? Very difficult to say.

If my tribe were to lose, the result would be simple, Mitch would go home. Future tribal councils? I'd say Bill next, then hopefully Pete as I think Donna's pretty reliant on me at this point. If need be I think I could beat Donna at a tiebreaker challenge if we were the last two. But... this is all rather pointless to contemplate since I can't see us losing more than once, lol.

The other tribe is much more interesting, and a lot depends on what Rebecca decides to do. She may decide to take out one of our biggest threats, Michael M., by sticking with old gumshoe, and voting out Tiffani next if it comes to that. Or, she may decide that Original Gumshoe is just too big of a threat, and side with her original tribe to remove Joe or Jessica, more likely Joe. She may even decide to hop back out forth, try to take Michael M. and Joe out, possibly risking a tie one of those rounds to do it. Whatever decision she makes over there, I'll support. Her situation is far less clear cut than mine.

Poor Joe feels like he's doomed, but in reality, I think there's more hope for him than he realizes. Jessica was from our original tribe, and Rebecca does not trust Michael M. or Tiffani at all. In fact if she has a closest ally on that tribe, it would be Joe. It's odd because I was considering voting him out at a point last round, but really I think I don't want him to go. We'll see how it all works out.

Mindless chatter really, except for the part that Michael M. is saying pretty much the same things to Mitch as he is to Rebecca. I don't know which one he trusts, or better yet, if he even knows. Hopefully I'll figure it out as he continues to IM both of them over the next couple of days, and hopefully Rebecca doesn't inadvertently divulge any critical information. She has a difficult role to play trying to survive despite the Gumshoe pecking order, and getting rid of Michael M. would at least propel her past Pete's ideal of her leaving 8th and Michael M. leaving 7th. Hopefully we can figure it out.

I'm interested to see how this mixup works out. Pete and I are on the same tribe now. If we lose, Mitch would be the obvious first to go. But if we lose a second time? See, that would test the possible secret alliance between Bill and Pete that I've been wondering about since the game started. Oh well, that probably won't happen, and that's a good thing since I could very well receive two votes against me if it did and be forced to endure a tiebreaker.
