Doug enters the world of dating (eek!)

So in 21 years, I have pretty much never had a real relationship, and I've certainly never had what can be called "boy drama." In middle school, me and this girl were one of the three couples in our class; woo, big deal. In my freshman year of high school, I began "dating" a girl I met from a close all-girl high school. We broke up and then tried again junior year; by that time I was pretty certain I was gay, but I wanted to test the possibility that maybe I liked girls too. I didn't, and we broke it off after three days.

Since that day my junior year in highschool (2004), I have not been on a single date or in a single relationship. I've barely even noticed anyone showing interest in a relationship. Basically I was just a loser with a thousand impossible crushes. Even using online social networks I wasn't able to find anything with pursuing. Sad life, eh? I was actually getting used to the idea that I'd just be single forever, lol.

BUT, somehow 2010 has changed everything. I dunno what it is, but in two months and a week I've had boy drama, broken a lot of my own barriers, and now I'm
even going on dates

Yep, I dunno what's going on, but I'm not opposed. Two weekends ago I met this kid for lunch (it was supposed to be coffee, but we were both hungry). We talked online and had a lot in common. He's in graphic design, I should be in graphic design. He's getting a creative writing minor, I'm an English major who write and reads poetry. He used to be an RA/don at his old university, I am one now. He's coming to Kent main campus next semester, I go to Kent main. It was enough to keep us conversing. Then he asked me if I wanted to see Alice in Wonderland, and I said yes.

So today he came up, and we got some coffee and hung out for a bit and chatted. Then we went to the movie. I liked the movie a lot, which was good, and we generally laughed at the same stuff, so that was good. Then, with about 30 min left in the movie, he kinda fished for my hand, and I gave it to him, so we held hands and I leaned on him for the rest of the movie. Best part was we were surrounded by parents and their kids

so then we decided to get some food, because I hadn't eaten, and he was hungry. We went to this sushi place in Kent where we got some tuna samishi(?) and some kind of tuna roll. It was very good, and I'd never had it before, so that was fun. Got the chance to talk a bit more too. Finally, we went back to my room and he kinda hung out until we decided to watch Zach Galifianakis: Live At The Purple Onion, which was awesome by the way. Anyway, I don't have a lot of seating in my room, so we ended up sitting on the bed and eventually laying down. It was kinda nice

That was all though. After that I had to get ready for work, so he headed out, and I'm stuck here in da uniform. We're planning on getting together next Saturday too though. I don't know exactly how I feel about the "us" situation, but I enjoy spending time with him. We shall see.

Also, I think I'm meeting some other dude for lunch tomorrow? Not sure what that's about, but I'll let you know.

You go, Doug!! I'm really happy that you're enjoying yourself with the menfolk. The leaning on him in the movies is sooooooo cute, and watching a movie in bed together is awesome too. I was half expecting some makeouts at the end of the story. Maybe that will be next Saturday, haha. Yay! And I'll be dating vicariously through you, just so you know.

Live At The Purple Onion was a good choice. Watching Zack Galifianakis is the best go to. I'm not being sarcastic, it's always a good choice. If they don't like Zack Galifianakis what good are they anyway? Really just The Comedians Of Comedy in general. That's what you should do next time. Maria Bamford makes the best pterodactyl.
