| Are there any movies that you feel as if you should have seen, but never have?
Today, I found out that the mom of the kids I nanny for has never seen The Lion King. I feel that's unforgivable.
But then when I thought about it, I haven't seen any Star Wars, any Bourne, any Godfather, any James Bond... And I realized I'm horrible for watching the same movies over and over and over and over and never seeing movies I had yet to see.
People are constantly being all "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ________" when talking to me. Any one else? XD

| Yeah, I think we all have those. It irritates me when people say that, and it generally just furthers my apathy for the movies I'm supposed to see. It's not that I don't want to see them (I'll watch anything); it's just that I either don't have any nagging drive to see it, or I really just don't want to sit down and watch it alone, like there needs to be a setting with the right people. Some of the movies I usually get that comment for include, but are certainly not limited to: - Grease- Titanic- The Godfather (and most gangster movies) - up until a year ago, the Terminators - Pulp Fiction (and pretty much anything Tarantino, because people have the biggest boners for that dude) - up until a year ago, all Indiana Jones - up until a year ago, Forrest Gump - up until a year ago, Braveheart - Sin City (I get this a lot, which is strange, because I didn't realize this was such a staple movie ) - The Big Lebowski- THE PRINCESS BRIDE --- I don't know if I've EVER told someone that I haven't seen this movie without them making SOME kind of remark about it. - Rocky & Rambo- for a long time, Nightmare Before Christmas - every fucking Disney original television movie ever...people need to get their dicks out of oldschool Disney Channel's ass plzthx | |

| There's always gonna be some movie that someone is shocked someone else hasn't seen.
Whenever people talk about The Big Lebowski, I just say I've seen it so I don't get the "You're not really a man" speech.

Maybe I'd have to see it to really understand that comment, but the two people I know who love it more than anyone else I know are a gay guy and a girl...sooo?

| I had the perfect opportunity to watch Grease a couple weeks ago, but I had to work. Basically, I don't have any desire to see that movie, and never have, so it has to be set up in the right setting. This is the setting that was presented to me: outdoor movie on a lawn, right across from the bars, free popcorn, friends.
It woulda been perfect, because I couldn't possibly NOT enjoy that experience.
But by myself? I just know I won't pay it any attention at all if I try to watch it by myself. Rocky I could watch by myself, but I don't particularly have any desire to, and Rambo, I specifically avoided for a long time, but now actually want to watch.

Rocky and Rambo changed my life. I even wrote a memoir about it and read it to my Writers' Craft class in grade 12. Even ask Ryan. I doubt he remembers, actually, but I specifically remember people laughing at it... I didn't want to watch either at first, but my dad FORCED me. My brother was never home, and my mom and sister refused. My dad has always roped me into doing "father-son" activities, lmao. I'm glad he did, though, because they're my favourite movies. Doug, one night, I'll go on Skype with you and we'll watch them together. That way, you won't be alone XD

Just thought I would add that.
The only movie I can think of that I haven't seen that shocks and amazes people is...............................uh.....................................I can't think of one. At least not one that will make sense. Because I have friends who will be like "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU NEVER SAW THIS OBSCURE FRENCH FILM FROM 1982??????????"

| P.S. I don't really like the AFI lists to be honest. A lot of the movies they say are SOOOO GOOD just seem like the movies you 'expect' to hear rather than having an actual opinion on them. | |

| Well actually the thread was about how pathetic is was that you hadn't seen many 'important' movies, so I figure I should win something for seeing more than both of you combined.
Also I don't understand why they have such specific genres. Sports? We needed a 'Sports' section...are there really 10 AMAAAAAAAAAAZING 'Sports' movies that we needed to do that? Also why isn't Bring It On on that list? Especially since the movies on that list which are actually worth watching all fit into one of the other categories easily. "Courtroom Dramas" is also fucking strange.
