IC 5: SWORDFIGHT

Welcome, Leaders. It's time for another epic battle! Let's see which of the three city-states really is the strongest...


You are now able to forge stronger Swords, Battle Axes, and Shields! And you will use each to attack the other tribe until one of you is destroyed!


Leader Score:

In this challenge you each have 3 lives, represented as Xs:

Weapons:

Sword - does 1 damage to opponent (-1 to attacker if defended)

Battle Axe - does 2 damage to opponent (-2 to attacker if defended)

Shield - does either 1 or 2 damage to attacker if used within 30 minutes of attack



Doing Battle:

Over the next 48 hours you will each take turns picking up either a Sword or a Battle Axe and using it to attack a member of either opposing Tribe. To do this, simply post as a reply to this thread here in the Colosseum:


(Your Name) picks up (Sword/Battle Axe) and attacks (Name of Opponent)


After you have attacked said opponent, that player has 30 minutes to reply with this:


(Opponent's Name) picks up Shield and defends him/herself against (Attacker)'s (weapon used against opponent)).



For example, if I were to attack Aphrodite with a Battle Axe, I would post, as a reply to this thread:

"Zeus picks up Battle Axe and attacks Aphrodite."

For Aphrodite to successfully defend against my attack, she would post, (within 30 minutes of my attack):

"Aphrodite picks up Shield and defends herself against Zeus' Battle Axe."





Restrictions:

**A player may only use one weapon at a time and may only attack one player at a time. Once 30 minutes have passed (resulting in a successful or unsuccessful attack) the attacking player may attack again.

**A player using a Shield may use it as often as they need to fend off multiple personal attacks. (You may not pick up and use the Shield to defend a tribemate. Only the attacked player may defend themselves). It is possible that you can be attacking with a weapon AND defending at the same time.

**Two or more players MAY attack the same person at the same time if they so choose, but both will suffer the resulting defended damage from the Shield if the doubly-attacked opponent replies with a Shield in time to both players. If the attack is NOT defended, both attacker's weapons will count as successful attacks and the resulting damage from both will be applied to the defender.




Removing Xs:

The Leader Score should be updated as a new post after every successful attack or defense.

We will attempt to monitor the challenge in progress and update the Leader Score as much as possible, however, in our absence it is allowed for the players to remove Xs on their own:

If the defender does not use a Shield within 30 minutes of the attack, the attack is successful and it is safe for the attacker to remove the appropriate amount of Xs from the defender's Leader Score (1 X if they used a Sword, 2 Xs if they used a Battle Axe).

If the defender does use the Shield within 30 minutes of the attack, the attack is unsuccessful and it is safe for the defender to remove the appropriate amount of Xs from the attacker's Leader Score.

It is preferred that those doing battle update the Leader Score on their own, or a tribemate can, but anyone may do this if neither player is available to do so.


Winning:

When you're out of Xs, you're out of the challenge and you may no longer engage in battle. The first tribe to eliminate everyone from both of the opposing tribes wins immunity. If 48 hours come and go and there are multiple tribes with at least one player still in, then the tribe with the most Xs remaining amongst the players still in will win. If there is a tie at that point, it will go to sudden death, and the next successful attack will win the challenge.

Emperors:

To determine the tribe Emperor, we will assign 1 point to a succesful sword attack or successful sword defense. We will assign 2 points for a successful Battle Axe attack or Battle Axe defense. We will assign 3 points for every "kill". If you are the player to knock the last X off an opposing player, you have scored a "kill". The player with the highest score will win. If there is still a tie, the player to score the last "kill" will win.

Emperor scores will only be tallied for those on the winning tribe.



Again, the first tribe to knock out the other two will win. Otherwise, the challenge will end on Thursday, May 6th, at 10pm EST.

Also to clarify: When "Removing Xs" please copy the entire leaderscore into a new post every time. This ensures that everyone sees the update, in regards to each other. Don't just say "Aphrodite = XX"

If a player has lost all of their Xs, don't delete their names...just leave the names alone with no Xs next to them.

We will post the first update so you get the idea.
